I saw this shadow through the window, and it made me chuckle. At last, a plant that’s truly low maintenance!

This afternoon I dragged the girls to the grocery store with me to pick up a couple of things for dinner. I had planned on spaghetti or tacos, because I didn’t really have the energy to think of something interesting. When we got to the store, they had a sample of bruschetta made with fresh bread and fresh tomato. It was absolutely amazing! My daughter and I took as big a sample as we thought we could get away with, and tried to figure out what ingredients they had used. We gathered everything we needed, along with some yummy cheese, brought it all home and made a delicious, summery dinner. So good!
For some reason I love the quirky shadows I found in our cottage as the sun was setting the other day–the fan in the window, the vase of flowers moved over to the coffee table, the bright orange light on the pine walls. It all feels so much like summer to me.
I know it’s not going to be like this for many more years, but right now, my daughters still think it’s fun to spend three weeks hanging out with their parents, tenting out in the back yard at the lake. Even the teddy bears and the butterfly sheets are still OK with them. The princess towels, however, are another story.
I am counting these days as a gift.
