Fort Ord - Inter-Garrison entrance

The vernal pools are already starting to dry up.
ps 02/08/10 - I initially labeled this location as part of the Fort Ord Public Lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, but I have since learned differently. The BLM lands (referenced on this blog as the Creekside entrance) are located southeast and have well-maintained trails. As of the last half of 2009 and into 2010 onward, most of the FORA ESCA trails have been marked red for "no entry" as they actively clear out all the left-over ammunition for future commercial development. It's been disheartening to find vandalized red trail markers. I can only assume people feel entitled to the trails since they've had free access for a number of years by sheer neglect of any authority. We've heard some agency is actually starting to give out citations for trespass to those who violate the red marker signage. Needless to say, we may not be hiking at the Inter-Garrison entrance much in 2010, since most of the best trails are now closed.
