Tim-- have you tried running the specimen thru the key in (1)?
would be nice to get the id verified -- record is worth publishing

granulation and punctures
Thanks --v--
The first couplet in the key sends "granulation" to B. depressipennis or "punctures" to B. probus. "Shiny microspots"(whatever they are) are also mentioned for B. probus, although I don't see any in the included pictures.
My beetle clearly has punctures. And I thought the raised globules were granulation, but I guess they are 'microspots'?

At least B. probus is a new species for BugGuide :)
