Learned from Zack Saavedra that the pre-rattle white and black bands are characteristic of the Western Diamondback. Found next to Gallinas Canyon trail at Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge.

Cool! So the BG gathering turned up both species of rattlesnake typically found in that corner of NM.
