Histeridae?
Didn't measure it but my guess is approx. 5-10mm.
Resembles Platysoma at Cedar Creek here.

How about 4mm?
That would make it Cylistix sp., an histerid.

Platysoma is not elongate enough to be your beetle.

Synonyms
Don Chandler pointed out to me the following May that Cylistix and Platysoma are synonymous for this and other related "cylinderical" Histeridae.

Yes, it could easily have been 4mm. In this photo is was at the tip of a broken stem of a maple leaf I think, and that doesn't have a very large diameter.
