About Akosua “Kosi” Asabere
Akosua (Kosi) Asabere is a Senior Accessibility Engineer and Inclusive Design Strategist with over a decade of experience advancing digital accessibility across web, mobile, and enterprise platforms. As a native screen reader user and former Accessibility Specialist at the W3C, she combines lived experience, deep technical expertise, and leadership in accessibility program management—bridging the gap between inclusive user needs and sustainable accessibility solutions. Kosi has led accessibility initiatives for government websites, higher education systems, nonprofits, and emerging tech startups—embedding best practices into procurement pipelines, design systems, and engineering workflows. Her past roles include Accessibility Manager at Lighthouse for the Blind Inc. and IT Accessibility Specialist at the University of Maryland, where she drove accessibility integration across technology development and institutional policy. As an experienced Assistive Technology Trainer, she has equipped hundreds of users to navigate digital environments with screen readers like JAWS and NVDA, magnification tools like ZoomText, speech input technologies such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and other assistive tools, while advising product teams on identifying and remediating real-world accessibility barriers to ensure digital experiences are not only compliant, but intuitive, equitable, and genuinely usable.
