I sustained an injury during basic training in 2021, which was misdiagnosed at the time. After returning to the National Guard in Puerto Rico, I paid for private exams in 2023 and received the correct diagnosis. Despite several profiles for my condition and extensive rehabilitation efforts, my doctor does not recommend that I continue serving in the military. I have shared all documentation as required in my annual PHA, and now I am facing a physical board for discharge. I do not agree with this decision, as I believe a medical discharge is my right. I have the 2173 LOD documenting my line of duty injury. I believe I should go to a medical board instead of a physical board. What are my options to appeal this decision and request a medical board?
