Afraid of Words, Not Afraid of Actions

5 years ago: Let's Ban Bombings, Not Words (Corporations Taking Away People's Freedom of Speech So They Can Bomb 'in Peace')
"Genocide" is a strong word. It has a racial connotation (albeit not biased towards any particular race, unlike say "slavery", which gets associated with particular ethnicities). It also has an association - rightly or wrongly - with fatal violence, not mere displacement or selective contraception.
We won't say that we oppose the renaming of a function called 'd_genocide'; we will, however, say that many of the corporations expressing concerns about this function's name not only participate in but profit from actual genocide.
Those corporations want us to bicker over words, not their actions. â
