BRIGADIER GENERAL TIMOTHY W. SCOTT

 

photoBrigadier General Timothy W. Scott is the assistant adjutant general who also serves as the commander of the Alaska Air National Guard. He is responsible for all Alaska Air Guard operations, programs, and activities, including the primary flying missions of air refueling, combat rescue, and airlift. General Scott also serves as the Air National Guard advisor to the commander, 18th Air Force.

Upon completion of Officer Training School, General Scott was commissioned in March 1981. Following graduation from Undergraduate Navigator Training in November 1981, his first assignment was to the 42nd Air Refueling Squadron, Loring Air Force Base, Maine, where he served as a KC-135A Navigator, Instructor Navigator, and Evaluator Navigator. In October 1984, he was selected to become a part of the Cobra Ball Reconnaissance Program and a member of the 24th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. During this assignment, General Scott served as Senior Standardization/Evaluation Navigator and the Chief of Training. In 1989, he the left the United States Air Force and became a member of the Alaska Air National Guard. Serving as an Instructor Navigator, Senior Standardization/Evaluation Navigator, and the Chief of Scheduling and as Operations Officer, he was instrumental in the expansion of this unit from four to ten operational aircraft and its subsequent conversion to nine KC-135R aircraft. In June 1995, he was appointed Commander of the 168th Aircraft Generation Squadron (AGS), and in August 1996, General Scott was selected as Commander of the 168th Operations Group. As the Operations Group Commander, his responsibilities included operational control of nine KC-135R aircraft and ensuring worldwide qualification of assigned crew members and support personnel. He entered the United States Air Force Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, in August 1998. Following graduation from Air War College, General Scott served as the Air National Guard Advisor to the Air Mobility Command Directorate for Plans, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. In March 2000, he was selected as Commander, 168th Air Refueling Wing. Most recently, he served as the Wing Commander for the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Commander for the 384th Air Expeditionary Wing, Shaikh Isa, Bahrain, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. General Scott is a Master Navigator with over 4,800 flying hours and was appointed to his current position 5 August 2003.
