Drug Levels and Effects

Summary of Use during Lactation

Tirofiban is an antiplatelet drug given by intravenous infusion. Its oral bioavailability has not been studied in humans, but is only 2.2% in rats. No information is available on the drug’s use during breastfeeding, but infants would not be expected to absorb clinically relevant amounts of the drug from milk. If a mother requires tirofiban, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding, but monitor the infant for bruising or bleeding.
