Flathead County asks voters to back bond for new jail

The jail south of downtown Kalispell was built in 1987 to house 63 inmates. In 2018, it was expanded, and by maximizing space and adding bunks, the county was able to hold 154 people. However, the sheriff said that figure is well above the “maximum safe operational capacity” of 96.
