The combined HBO Max and Discovery+ service is coming sooner than expected.
Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav revealed that the new service will launch in the U.S. in spring 2023. It was previously set to launch in summer 2023.
The company added nearly 3M global direct to consumer subscribers in its latest quarter.
“We expect a healthy inflection with the launch of our combined service and expanded global footprint. With that we are excited to announce that we have moved up our U.S. launch date from summer of 2023 to spring. We’ve been very hard at work. We can make the service available to consumers around the globe and get the business running on all cylinders,” he said on the company’s Q3 earnings call.
Latin America will launch after the U.S. followed by markets in Europe in 2024.
I like my HBO Max, free with my “free” HBO as part of my internet offering. I can barely stand listening to the stuff on Discovery cable when visiting family. The hell if I want to have to filter out what has become reality show hell with Discovery+. The 1980’s phrase “GAG” sums up any Discovery+ offering pretty well I think!
I wouldn’t pay a penny more for Discovery. In fact, I wouldn’t pay a penny more for HBO Max; it’s already overpriced for what little content they offer… that they haven’t cancelled or killed in the crib.
I want to sample HBO Max but I don’t want to pay for Discovery+ content so I better hurry up and do my sampling and cancel before the tulips sprout.
do they’ll lose all the subscribers that signed up for hbo max and forgot about it, genius. they are standing on the precipice of a clusterf*uck
They must be in BIG TROUBLE to rush this to market—I guess they are trying to appease Wall Street as the stock price is in the toilet.
