Looking Back

The recovery continues. As we reflect on the devastating floods of 2023 and 2024 in Vermont, we pause to honor the resilience of our communities—and to give thanks to those who continue helping their neighbors in need.  This video and StoryMap document the two years of recovery, rebuilding, and resilience.

Helping communities rebuild and recover after disasters.

The State of Vermont helps communities recover from disasters by providing resources and support. The Office of Disaster Recovery is dedicated to helping residents and businesses rebuild and bounce back stronger.

Active Disasters

From July 2023 to July 2024, Vermont experienced multiple flooding events with enough damage to secure five federal disaster declarations. Collectively, these floods spanned every one of Vermont’s 14 counties and more than 150 cities, towns and villages, causing well over a billion dollars in damage.
