CLANTON – Sunday, 7:30 am July 13, 2025
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop statewide during the afternoon and evening hours today through Tuesday. A few wind gusts from 40-60 mph are possible in the strongest storms, but most places will remain dry, and widespread severe weather will not occur. A typical summertime pattern.
Heat will be on the increase today and last until Tuesday or Wednesday. Heat index values of 100-108 will occur. Make sure you limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquids and stay in cooler locations as much as possible.
An area of low pressure will move into the northeastern Gulf by Tuesday and move westward across the northern Gulf Wednesday through late week. There remains a 20% chance of tropical development beginning Wednesday. For Alabama, this will increase both cloud cover and rain chances Wednesday into next weekend while reducing heat index values, especially across the southern half of the state.
Depending on the track of the low-pressure system, very heavy rainfall will be possible from Wednesday into next weekend, which may result in some flooding issues.
