CLANTON – Monday, 7:00 am July 14, 2025
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop statewide during the afternoon and evening hours today through Tuesday. A couple of wind gusts from 40-60 mph are possible in the strongest storms, but most places will remain dry, and widespread severe weather will not occur. A typical summertime pattern.
Heat will continue to be on the increase today and last until Tuesday or Wednesday, with Heat Index values of 100-107 each day. Make sure you limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquids and stay in cooler locations as much as possible.
An area of low pressure will move into the northeastern Gulf by late Tuesday and continue westward across the northern Gulf Wednesday through late week. There is now a 30% chance of tropical development. As of this morning, models continue to struggle with the evolution and track of this system.
For Alabama, an increase in cloud cover and rain chances will begin Wednesday and last into the weekend, reducing Heat Index values. Very heavy rainfall will be possible in spots from Wednesday into next weekend, which may result in some localized flooding issues.
