CLANTON – Wednesday, 7:00 AM, July 16, 2025

A Heat Advisory is in effect today from 10 AM- 7 PM across portions of western and northern Alabama.  Head Index values will range between 103-108.  Limit outdoor activity.  If outdoors, stay in shaded areas as much as possible and drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquids.

At 7 am, the center of a broad area of low pressure was located just southwest of Tallahassee, continues on a westward track and will reach the Louisiana coast by Thursday.  If the system can move offshore, a tropical depression could still form before landfall.  There continues to be a 40% chance of development.

Bands of heavy rain, with potentially a couple of wind gusts from 40-60 mph are possible today, especially south of a Livingston – Montgomery – Auburn line.  Localized flooding may occur.  With that said, many areas will still remain dry today.

After making landfall Thursday, the low pressure area will curve northward. This will still be close enough to Alabama to produce afternoon and evening scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms statewide from Friday through at least the weekend.

In addition, high temperatures in the middle 90s and high humidity will occur beginning on Monday and continuing next week.  Heat Advisories may be issued at some point for portions of the state.
