Digital Maine Library (DML), a collection of online resources available at no cost to all Maine residents, promotes lifelong learning, enhances economic development, and improves the quality of life for Mainers of all ages.
Funding for DML is administered by the Maine State Library (MSL). MSL partners closely with Maine InfoNet to provide technical and training support for DML and its individual resources.
Content in Digital Maine Library is made available through extensive funding from the Public Utilities Commission. Additional funding from the University of Maine, MSL, and Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin Colleges contribute significantly to the online resource offerings.
The Database Subcommittee of the Maine Library Commission provides advisory support for resource selection, promotion, training, and evaluation for DML and its resources. It consists of members of its primary library stakeholder groups: Maine InfoNet; MSL Library Development; small, medium, and large public libraries; academic libraries in community colleges and 4-year universities; Minerva; and the Maine Library Advisory Council.
The Digital Maine Library server log does record some information such as originating IP address, domain accessing, type of browser, date and time visited, and any information to prevent unauthorized uses of the site. Our server log records personal information of a remote user registering for a Digital Maine Library account. This information is not made available to any third party. It is used to periodically ensure security for our license agreements which authorize access for Maine residents only and to compile usage statistics.
