Cross-Cultural Design (HCII 2025)

Abstract

Social innovation offers a systematic approach to addressing complex societal goals that conventional design practices, such as service design, often struggle to achieve. A key aspect of social innovation involves reconstructing stakeholder relationships. However, there remains a notable absence of practical and instructive tools to assist practitioners in understanding and designing complex social interactions. This research explores the roles and characteristics of stakeholders involved in social innovation and proposes a practical analytical tool for stakeholder analysis. Grounded in the constructivist paradigm, the study employs Grounded Theory to develop the Dynamic Role Relationship Model (DRRM). The DRRM categorizes stakeholders into four distinct groups: Cornerstone, Main, Supported, and Potential stakeholders, while accounting for both external and internal dynamic trends. The research provides a framework for analyzing, optimizing and designing skakeholder roles and relationships in different stages of desiging for social innovation activities.
