Abstract

Since ancient times, astute philosophers, scientists, and clinicians have observed and investigated disorders of sleep. Due to these efforts, some of these disorders have now emerged as clearly defined clinical entities: narcolepsy, sleep-apnea syndrome, and restless legs syndrome, to name a few. However, a number of sleep disorders remain obscure, undefined, and unclassified.
