Work Quest: Contract or permanent part-time editorial management positions; freelance writing and editing for magazines, newspapers, corporations

I like to take on complicated editing projects: say, a research report chock full of ever-changing data and countless sidebars, photos and charts; that requires numerous writers, each with unique temperaments; thats led by a headstrong publisher and due to the printer in a heartbeat. Ive been there, Ive done it, kept on budget and produced beautiful work.
My most recent staff position was as director of marketing services for an Internet company needless to say which went the way of all flesh. However, while there I managed a creative Web development staff of 15. Im an editor and writer by trade, having worked as a staff book and magazine editor; written several books and countless magazine articles and did stints as marketing manager for several flashy high-tech companies. The journalism background, profound respect for deadlines and people management skills learned from my publishing work served me well in the corporate milieu.
Recent projects have included serving as executive editor for a research report much like the one described above (!); parlaying my avocation as a home chef into a steady gig writing about diets and health; developing web content and sales materials for a variety of high-tech companies, and serving as contract editor for a high-tech magazine. My background enables me to step into editorial director roles as well as write magazine articles and develop a broad range of marketing materials for both print and web.
As a single mom, I balance the search for clients who pay their invoices on time with the homework assignments, social life and vicissitudes of my 13-year old son (hence not wanting a full-time job) who now surpasses me in height, weight and attitude.
