| |  | MBC of Guinea and Stade Malien of Mali will be representing zone 2 in champions cup for man in Angola from Dec13-22,2007. Guinea Hosted the Qualify Tournement from November 5-10,2007. They were five teams competing for two spots. Finally the stade Malien team of the talented Wali couibaly and Mbc of sekou conde were dominant force in the tournament.
Cheick Kone of Mali ex pivot of Djoliba of Bamako will be playing in Howard college in Texas. Kone started his American dream last year in cornestore high prep school in San Antonio before joining Howard college as freshman this season. So far the 6-10 center has been very impressive during this month of november posting a solid number in the board. |

| |  | Paul Dakouo (209-C-85), who played in the recently completed African Championships , returned to Algeria to play for M.C.Alger in the national championship. The talented center was waiting for offers in Europe but decided to join on of the best club in northern Africa for the season after spending time in Qatar and previously with ASPTT Alger in the same league.
Now, after Mouloudia bought his rights from ASPTT , he already played a match and was instrumental for his team's win in the frist round of the championship. |

 | Special Afrobasket '07: Senegal beat Morocco to 9th place | |

| |  | 2005 runner-up of the FIBA Africa Championship for Men, Senegal today in Benguela, Angola defeated Morocco to place 9th in the 16-nations championship which will come to a close on Saturday.
The Senegalese won two out of the four quarters (second - 22-14 and third - 20-17) while drawing its opponent in the first and last quarters - 16-16 and 21-21.
Morocco host in 2001 thus end its campaign in Angola on the 10th spot and will have to qualify from its zone for the 2009 edition billed for Nigeria.
Mali recorded a 78-74 points victory over Rwanda (20-13; 18-17; 21-25 and 19-19) in the placement 11-12 position, South Africa humbled fellow zone-6 member Mozambique by 97-85 points (18-20; 30-17; 16-23 and 33-25) to place 13th. Just as DR Congo ended Liberia dream of winning a single match in the 11-day championship with 92-84 points win (24-19; 29-25; 19-20 and 20-20. |

Cleveland Cavaliars Ejike Ugboaja poured in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 block-shot; Deji Akindele had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assists and 3 block-shots; while guard Jason Bazuaye 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Tunisia on the other hand defeated Cote d'Ivoire by 74-63 points; Mozambique defeated Liberia who is likely finish the competition without a win by 81-65 points, South Africa defeated DR Congo by 77-74 in a thrilling encounter; Morocco hammered Mali by 86-76 while Senegal beat Rwanda 93-58.

They posted 1-2 record in Group B action and have to continue their campaign at the classification games for 9th-16th spots. Mali starts against Mozambique tomorrow. Mali got to a slow start at the tournament and were severly punished by Senegal early on. Mali could not provide any strong opposition for Senegalese squad and were thrashed 70:85 in the first game in the competition. Mali however needed just one day to rebound after a bitter defeat as they proved their ambitions against Egypt. Mali team drove to a sensational 73:66 win in front of 2100 spectators. Mali dominated the first half and built a 37:27 advantage at halftime. Egypt tried to pave their way back into the contest in the second half but never caught up with Mali pace and suffered their first defeat at the tournament. Modibo Niakate (185-G-81, college: Cleveland St.) netted game-high 23 points to lead Mali. Samake Soumaila (214-C-78, agency: CAA Sports) fired 17 points to provide necessary help in a win. Mali then faced Cote d'Ivoire in a must-win battle for the ticket into the quarterfinal stage. Mali seemed to be en route to the target as they openend the game with a massive 23:8 blow. But Cote d'Ivoire withstood the pressure and gradually recovered. They cut the deficit to 40:46 at the end of the third quarter and stroke back in the fourth frame. Mali struggled from the field at the dying stage and it costed them a win. They suffered a narrow 63:65 loss despite game-high 26 points from Modibo Niakate. Nouha Diakite (207-C-80, college: Louisville) produced 15 points in a losing effort.

Cote d'Ivoire gained a narrow lead after the opening frame 16:14. They capitalized on the struggling Mali offense to extend the advantage to 29:20 at halftime. Mali showed some signs of revival late in the third quarter when they managed to perform a final run that allowed them to win the quarter 15:12. Everything was decided at the dying stage of the game when Niakate Mobido nailed some important baskets and lifted Mali into All-Africa Games semifinal. Sory Diakite (170-G-73) chipped in 11 points to lead Mali. Mobido Diarra and Niakate Mobido nailed 9 points apiece to seal the winning outcome. Eric Tape fired 11 points and grabbed 6 boards for Cote d'Ivoire. Philippe Koffi (190-G-85) provided 10 points in a defeat.

In the leaders clash they were beaten by Angola 64:71 to fall to 3-2 record. Angola meanwhile stayed undefeated at the tournament. Angola had a better start to this one as they rallied to a 24:16 advantage after the opening frame. Mali however manged to handle the game and remained at a striking disstance throughout the second quarter. Halftime break reignited Mali team and they played some spectacular basketball in the third quarter. Mali outscored Angola 23:13 to surge in front 56:54 entering the final frame. But it was as far as it went for Mali. Angola picked up their aggressive defence in the final stanza and held Mali to only 8 points. It secured the winning outcome for Angola as they continue to cruise unbeaten through the competition. Mayzer Alexandre (185-G-84) poured in 14 points for Angola. Fernando Albano (193-F-75) produced another 13 points for the winners. Mali replied with 14 points from Niakate Mobido. Bassekou Diallo (-F) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in defeat.

Mali U19 and China struggled for the third place that gave the ticket to the Eighth Finals of FIBA U19 World Championship. The latter qualified for the next round with a 59:46 win. Mali was leading 14:10 in the first, but could not believe in their win. Waly Coulibaly (187-G/F-88)'s effort was not enough as he poured in 19 points. Su Wei (212-C-89) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Zhang Bo (196-G/F-89) finished with 11, while Yang Qin (195-G-88) collected 8. China improved to 1-2 and grabbed the last advancing spot, while Mali will struggle in the Classification Round.
Mali U19 had the best of the opening quarters with 14:10 ahead. That was a surprise not only for the opponents, however for the spectators as well. In the second quarter China pushed the tempo and left Mali at 5 points in the quarter. The teams went for the interims with 23:19 for the Asians.
The second half started with the same stream as China dominated in the court. By the end of the third quarter, they had edged in front by eight points 46:37. China increased in the end and won 13:9 the last. Mali will hope to take a better place fighting for the 13-16 places.

Mali U19 lost the second game in FIBA U19 World Championship. Yesterday the African team had a better game then the first one against USA, however was defeated 47:70 by Serbia. Miroslav Raduljica (213-C-88, agency: CAA Sports) led the winners with 14 points and 19 rebounds. Marko Keselj (208-F-88, agency: Beo Basket) posted 13 and Milan Macvan (206-F/C-89) ended up with 11 points. Waly Coulibaly (187-G/F-88) was again the best for Mali producing 17 points. The hosts of the tournament improved to 2-0, while Mali is 0-2.
It was another defense we saw Mali in the second game. Remembering 118 from USA, Mali concentrated more in their half and looked well. Serbia however was in front and won the opening 17:14. The hosts began to improve their offensive play and extended their lead to 38:20 at the end of the second quarter. In the second half it was the game of two defensive teams as both squads scored 20 points together(10:10). Boban Marjanovic (216-C-88) helped Serbia to exert their control in the third quarter with 5 points to help his side to a comfortable 48:29 lead. In the last quarter Mali played more opened and could score 17 points. Meanwhile Serbia satisfied with 22 and won the quarter by 5. As a result the Europeans celebrated 70:47 win.
