About Concordia College
Students at Concordia are inspired to change — and be changed by — the world. Our students benefit from an academically challenging, yet welcoming and supportive learning environment. Faculty help students discover their potential, pushing them to achieve beyond what they imagine is possible.
As a college of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, intellect and faith are active partners in the search for truth.
Concordia's mission centers on preparing students to serve their neighbors.
Responsibly Engaged in the World
Gaining global perspective and experience is a critical component of a Concordia education. Exploring today's most important issues from a wide range of world political, religious and cultural views adds essential depth to our 78
majors and 12 preprofessional programs.
All students study one or more of the 10 world languages offered through Concordia and more than half of our students
study abroad. Many pursue international internships and volunteer experiences. The purpose is to develop well-rounded, globally sensitive and highly competent graduates who are ready to lead and serve anywhere on the planet.
Campus and Community Connections
Concordia is a vibrant learning community of more than 2,800 students, where student engagement goes well beyond the classroom. Here, students frequently join faculty in side-by-side research. Our students also perform in world-class music ensembles, compete on championship-caliber sports or speech and debate teams, and make their mark in theatre, student government, or more than 90 other student clubs or organizations.
Campus ministry offers many ways to get involved. Students explore and express their faith through contemporary, student-led worship services, Bible studies and a variety of outreach opportunities including Justice Journeys and one of the largest collegiate chapters of Habitat for Humanity.
Getting connected is easy - and we’re not just talking about wireless Internet connections throughout campus. The newly opened Knutson Campus Center is a great place to study, hang out with friends and savor a healthy assortment of tasty choices in the inviting dining space.
And there’s plenty of entertainment to provide a welcome break from studies. Student talent is featured throughout the year along with a number of outside acts — from comedians and magicians to hypnotists and musicians. There’s even an occasional outdoor movie — though not too often in January.
Off-campus, you’ll find 20,000 other college students. A safe, college-friendly community, Fargo-Moorhead offers the attractions and amenities of big-city living without the big-city hassles. Perhaps most importantly, our thriving education, business and health care communities provide Concordia students with career-shaping internship opportunities.
Going Places
Within six months of graduation, 96 percent of recently surveyed new Concordia graduates reported being employed in their field of study or were attending graduate school. The college also ranks in the top 20 percent of all colleges and universities for number of graduates going on to earn doctorates.
In the past 10 years surveyed, Concordia students have achieved an 88 percent acceptance rate into medical school. Ninety-three percent of Concordia graduates applying for law school are accepted.
Concordia students graduate with a powerful sense of purpose, a confidence in their gifts and a deeper understanding of the world around them. They are driven by the chance to make a meaningful difference in whatever they are called to do.
