FREIGHT SERVICES

Equipment And Staff To Do The Job Right
If you have freight or equipment to transport to Alaska or within Alaska, contact the Alaska Railroad first. We have the people, equipment, and experience to move difficult, heavy, large, and unusual dimensioned freight, as well as containerized and hazardous materials.

Alaska's Full Service Railroad
In 2006, the Alaska Railroad moved more than 7.6 million tons of freight over 525 miles of track.

Established in 1914, the Alaska Railroad was operated by the Federal government until it was purchased by the State of Alaska in 1985. Chartered to operate as a Private Enterprise, the Alaska Railroad receives no funding from the State of Alaska. All operating expenses and improvements are paid out of revenues generated by passengers, freight services, and real estate.

Your Mainline To The Marketplace
Efficient handling, well-trained personnel and over 80 years experience make the Alaska Railroad an exceptional value to its customers.

Committed To Constant Improvement
The Alaska Railroad is committed to providing the best possible service to its customers. Our approach assures responsive customer service and reliable delivery under some adverse conditions. It requires constant improvement in systems and techniques and is backed by reinvestment in capital improvements.
