Men's Outdoor Track & Field
The recent success of the Concordia men's outdoor track and field team has been with outstanding individual performances. For the past two seasons the Cobbers have had four athletes finish in the top 10 of the MIAC decathlon. In 2009, Paul Westmark qualified for the NCAA DIII National Meet in the decathlon.
Garrick Larson's squad also takes pride in their outstanding training on the track and in the classroom. In 2009 Concordia was named as a USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team and Paul Shol earned All-Academic Track and Field Team honors.
After starting the day in third place, Concordia fell to eighth place in the final team standings at the MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet.
Marly Simmons,
John Bye,
Felix Okoth,
Giles Henry and
Jeff Bakke all had fifth-place finishes to lead CC.
Xavier Carroll finished his career by running the third fastest 100 meters in school history in the preliminary heat.
Concordia will have a more balanced attack heading into the 2010 MIAC Men’s Track and Field Outdoor Meet. The Cobbers, who have been field strong in the recent years, will have a good mix between track athletes and field athletes in 2010.
