Porters Group

While the OpenJDK code base covers some mainstream CPU architectures and operating systems, there are many more platforms that are attractive targets for porting efforts for Java. This group exists to bundle and aid such efforts under the OpenJDK umbrella, and integrate them in the OpenJDK community through porting projects.

Porting Projects

The BSD port Project, led by Kurt Miller, Greg Lewis and Landon Fuller, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

The Caciocavallo Project for portable GUI backends, led by Roman Kennke and Mario Torre, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

The Haiku OS OpenJDK port Project, led by Bryan Varner, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

The IcedTea Project, led by Andrew Hughes, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

The OpenJDK Port Project for the MIPS Architecture, led by Jonathan Springer, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

The Zero-Assembler Project, led by Gary Benson, is sponsored by the Porters Group.

If you lead a porting project you'd like to see join OpenJDK, you should send a porting project proposal to the porters-dev mailing list, and see the OpenJDK contribution guidelines for legal requirements for accepting your contributions into OpenJDK.
