E3 2007 took place in Santa Monica, CA. There was no central location for the show, as publishers held events and press conferences in various hotels in Santa Monica. A display more typical of E3s past was held at Barker Hangar, also in Santa Monica.
Show Downsizing
In response to escalating budgets for publishing exhibiting at E3, as well as the ballooning attendance numbers that frequently included non-industry show-goers, the ESA downsized E3 for 2007. Instead of taking up the entire Los Angeles Convention Center, the show moved to downtown Santa Monica. Show attendance dropped from an estimated 60,000 people in 2006 to just 10,000 in 2007.
