The first E3, E3 1995, took place in Los Angeles. Nintendo and SEGA were the established console makers, and both had press conferences prior to the show, but Sony's PlayStation appeared on the show floor.

Nintendo had approximately one quarter of the show floor filled with Super Nintendos, Game Boys and Virtual Boys. "Booth babes" ran the scene, and live dancers flanked the Killer Instinct display.

The Major Announcements

Nintendo had already announced the Ultra 64, which became known as the Nintendo 64, but at E3 1995 they announced it would be delayed the following summer, and it made its new release date.

However, Nintendo also unveiled the Virtual Boy at the very same conference, which was released later the same year and failed to last in the market.

The Big Games

  • Killer Instinct
  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
  • Donkey Kong Land
  • EarthBound
