HMPP Competence Centers (CoC) gather partners to address the many-core programming challenge at the technological (parallel programming, code tuning, etc.) and application levels.
HMPP Competence Centers address questions such as :

Creation of 2 more HMPP Competence Centers in US and Europe

Seattle – November 16th, 2011

After having launched the first HMPP Competence Center in Asia earlier this year with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, CAPS is proud to announce two new HMPP Competence Centers in Europe and US as a relay between the scientific and academic communities.

For the past months, prestigious members have proposed their contribution to these Competence Centers such as Houston University in the US and APOS, AUTOTUNE, ICHEC, IRISA, Coruna University, LPMA, H4H, PROHMPT in Europe, and lately CHPC in China.

Gathering expert teams dedicated to the many-core software development challenges of the Industry and Education World, HMPP Competence Centers focus on participating to the future generations of developers’ training, testing of many-core environments and contributing to research on many-cores.

CAPS is really happy to initiate a strong Ecosystem to address many-cores from applications to programming technologies that will contribute to promote best practice to the community.

OpenHMPP BoF during SC11

On behalf of the first members (CAPS entreprise, CEA, GENCI, ICHEC, INRIA, PathScale), OpenHMPP Consortium invites you to a BoF on a new initiative for an open standard for a new heterogeneous GPU and many-core programming.

This initiative aims at defining a directive based parallel API.

The BoF will be held at SC11 in Seattle on the 14th of November 2011, at 2 p.m. , at the Pan Pacific Hotel, in the CASCADE meeting room.

CAPS, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Announce HMPP Center of Excellence

SHANGHAI, March 24 — CAPS entreprise, a Many-core Programming Company and Shanghai Jiao Tong University today launched the HMPP Center of Excellence (CoE) as APAC relay for the scientific and academic communities.

This new project carried on by CAPS, the initiator of HMPP (Heterogeneous Multicore Parallel Programming) directives — worldwide standard for hybrid parallel software development and deployment — will be committed to federate the APAC manycore scientific computing community thanks to a rich education program focusing on helping this community move toward the manycore era and promoting HMPP directives as an open standard over APAC.

Gathering a scientific committee and an expert team dedicated to the manycore software development challenges of the Industry and Education World, the HMPP CoE will be focusing on participating to the future generations of developers’ training, testing of manycore environments and contributing to R&D with CAPS.

The HMPP CoE will enable CAPS to further strengthen its position as a strategic partner to high performance computing actors, opening developers’ future generation to parallel computing.

“CAPS is very enthusiastic about setting up a CoE,” comments François Bodin, CAPS CTO and Member of the HMPP CoE Committee, “This initiative will help to address manycore challenges in cooperation with the SJTU thanks to its highly skilled personnels and students“.
