Safety Programs
At 7‑Eleven, crime-deterrence is a priority. From store-personnel training programs to responsible cash control and the installation of surveillance cameras, crime-deterrence is foremost in our minds.
7‑Eleven has a long-standing commitment to work with law enforcement to help make our communities even better places to work, live and shop. Over the years 7‑Eleven has contributed to local police activities, including CrimeStoppers, Crimeline, Cops in Shops, neighborhood watch groups, anti-graffiti projects and numerous other programs that support law enforcement, crime prevention and community policing.
Police Community Network Centers
7‑Eleven has worked with numerous local police departments to install Police Community Network Centers (PCNC), which are satellite policing facilities inside or near a 7‑Eleven store. The company has received rave reviews from police organizations and city governments that have participated in the program. 7‑Eleven has established more than 200 PCNCs in 100 cities in 18 states and the District of Columbia.
Operation Chill
Since 1995, 7‑Eleven has provided more than 6 million Slurpee® coupons to police departments across the country to "ticket" young people "caught in random acts of kindness." Called Operation Chill, the program offers a positive method of rewarding responsible behavior by youngsters, and it gives police the opportunity to initiate conversations with the citizens in their patrol area.
Cops in Shops
7‑Eleven supports Cops in Shops, a program designed to discourage minors from attempting to buy alcohol beverages. Police officers pose as retail-store employees and request valid ID. Participating stores display signs on their front windows and cold-beverage doors with the message, "Under 21? Warning: Police Officer May Be Posing As An Employee."
National Night Out
National Night Out is a program sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. One night each year, neighbors in cities around the country are asked to turn on their porch lights and visit with each other. The program aims to strengthen neighborhood spirit, boost police relations and send a message to criminals that America's neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Over the years, 7‑Eleven has hosted National Night Out block parties at stores in targeted markets.
