The Prosthetics and Orthotics Service provides assessment, prescription, fabrication, fitting, review and adjustment of prostheses and orthoses as well as ongoing advice and care to maximize function for clients. The service is available to children and adults who may benefit from orthoses (braces and splints) or require prostheses (artificial limbs) for functional and cosmetic applications.
Facial, digital (fingers) and breast prostheses are not supplied by this service.

Outpatient / Referral Information
A referral from a Medical Practitioner or Allied Health Professional is required to access prosthetics and orthotics services and is provided on an appointment basis only.

Fees
Prostheses and orthoses may be self-funded, or funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Work Cover insurers (WC), the Department of Veteran's Affairs (DVA), the Public Prosthetic funds formerly known as the Victorian Artificial Limb Program, the Statewide Equipment Program (SWEP), and Ballarat Health Services.
Clients requiring orthoses may be eligible for funding assistance through the SWEP who may fund the full or part cost of the orthosis.
Fees will be discussed with the client at the time a service commences and quotes will be provided.
