Arthur V. Seavey
first worked in aqua-culture as a research and development technician for a
salmon ranching operation in Oregon. After returning to school for a
Master�s Degree in Ecology at the University of California in Davis, he
spent almost 10 years in Ecuador raising shrimp. He joined Joseph Cavanaugh
as his initial partner in 1994 at Monterey Abalone Company. Their goal was
to make Monterey Abalone Company an economically successful and
environmentally sustainable source for high quality farmed abalone. Art also
currently serves as a Director, on the Board of Directors for the California
Aquaculture Association.
Trevor S. Fay grew up working with his father, Dr. Rimmon C. Fay, a
world renowned marine biologist and pioneer environmentalist. Trevor spent a majority of his youth immersed in the marine,
oceanographic, and scientific communities of that region. Trevor
graduated as one of the first students through the National Science
Foundation flagship program, M.A.T.E. (Marine Advanced Technology
Education), and is currently an Advisor to the local M.A.S.T.
Program at Monterey Peninsula College. He also teaches part time at
MPC an Introduction to Submersible Technology course. Trevor's
tenure at Monterey Abalone Company began 1997. He became a business
partner in 2003. In addition to farming abalone, Trevor brings to
operation his life long experience in scientific collecting,
supplying specimens of marine flora and fauna to research and education
institutes across the U.S.
