Military Committee
The Military Committee (MC) is the senior military authority in NATO and the oldest permanent body in NATO after the North Atlantic Council, both having been formed only months after the Alliance came into being. It is the primary source of military advice to the North Atlantic Council and the Nuclear Planning Group, and gives direction to the two Strategic Commanders.

NATO Military Leadership hold Military Staff Talks with Pakistan
23 Oct. 2018On 23 October 2018, the Cooperative Security Division of the NATO International Military Staff hosted the NATO – Pakistan Military to Military staff talks. The head of the Pakistani Delegation, Lieutenant General Malik Zafar Iqbal met with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, and the Director General of the NATO International Military Staff, Lieutenant General Jan Broeks.

29 Sep. 2018The Allied Chiefs of Defence have elected Lieutenant General Hans-W. Wiermann of the German Armed Forces to be the next Director of the NATO International Military Staff (DGIMS). The DGIMS is nominated by the NATO Chiefs of Defence to head the Alliance’s International Military Staff for a term of three years. Lieutenant General Wiermann will take up the position in the summer of 2019 when Lieutenant General Jan Broeks’ tenure ends.

NATO Military Chiefs meet to discuss future military strategy
29 Sep. 2018The NATO Military Committee met on 28-30 September 2018 in Warsaw, Poland in Chiefs of Defence format. Discussions focused on Allied operations, missions and activities, the development of NATO’s Military Strategy, Responsiveness, Reinforcement and the NATO Readiness Initiative, as well as the Alliance’s ongoing modernization.
