I'm forced to use Eclipse, because the SW4STM32 toolchain can't run elsewhere (unless I hand-write m...y own makefiles). It's the worst IDE I ever used for C/C++:
- the "workspace" concept is unfitting, the way Eclipse scans and automatically import files to workspace is messy and out of control, I prefer simple project file of classic IDEs, where I manually add and organize items under my control.
- by default, Eclipse auto-import in the ws (runtime) every kind of garbage from the workspace root and subfolders (i.e. .bak files).
- because of this auto-import function, Eclipse gets schizophrenic with temporary files generated by toolchain during the build process (i.e. .s, .d, .a, ...).
- workspaces metadata tends to get corrupted every now and then, so the build crashes and I must re-create the whole worspace from the beginning. It's a waste of time.
- the same function/command is duplicated over several menus and submenus, it makes confusion: is that icon the same of the other menu, or is it an analogous function in another context?
- there's no way to export compiler/linker setting ("file -> export -> c/c++ -> project settings" doesn't work: optimization, libs, etc. are missing); to get trace of those settings I must keep several makefiles auto-generated at build time.

to call eclipse a trainwreck for a java IDE is an understatement, it sucks real bad. compared to Int...ellij, it feels like a pre-alpha. See More
