Info

A place to talk about Chrome or Chromium based browser APIs (features).

Some ground rules

  • Your comment must include Browser + Version + Info if it's dev/beta/canary/stable
  • If possible add an official announce ref link (blog post, MS link etc).
  • The topic/discussion/ticket is pretty much open for everything...

Feature Update

Google introduced Tab Grouping (19. Sept, 2019).

  • No flags?! (need to do some research aka updating my test builds somehow).
  • Chrome 78 (Desktop)/Chrome stable (Android)

History

In Firefox this is called "Collections" (Firefox "Fenix" Preview). In the desktop version this was removed because no one used it. However there are extensions for Firefox to get it back. I guess in Opera it was or is called "tab stacking".

Pretty useful feature imho. I hope MS Edge, Brave etc gets it too.

MS Edge (Chromium) Canary

Add Win specific touch-initiated fling animation

This CL will enable Chromium on Windows to have a touch fling inertia that behaves more like Edge and other native applications.

Note that this implementation does not modify the curve depending on the scroller’s size, something that may be desired. User feedback will be used to determine the importance of bringing that behavior to Chromium.

  • Flag: #enable-experimental-fling-animation
  • Security concerns: None
  • Privacy concerns: None
