The marked presence of Huawei in the Nigerian telecommunications market in recent times cannot be ignored. Chinese private telecommunications company made an inroad into the Nigerian telecommunications market since 2000. In fact, it has been able to expand its market in Nigeria through its products and services such as cloud computing, smart phones and fibber optics network. This study takes a historical survey of Huawei’s impact on the growth and development of Nigeria’s telecommunications market. The findings of the work reveal that Huawei has, to a very large extent, contributed towardsbridging the digital divide in Nigeria through Information and Communications Technology (ICT) education and training programmes. In the face of major challenges confronting the ICT market in Nigeria, this paper concludes that the Nigerian government should invest more in the provision of telecom infrastructure in order to encourage more investment from companies like Huawei.
