Data underpins nearly every activity at the Federal Communications Commission. By better involving data in open and transparent rulemaking, the FCC can better serve the public while enabling innovation. The FCC has long published relevant data, naming its first Chief Data Officer in 2010.  More recently, the FCC has recommitted to improving the quality, openness, accessibility and utility of the data it collects, publishes and relies on, including meeting the requirements of the OPEN Government Data Act.

Open Data Plan
The OPEN Government Data Act - Title II of the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018 - along with related OMB Guidance in M-25-05, requires the FCC to publish an Open Data Plan on our website.  Access our Open Data Plan.  As required, the FCC will update this plan annually, or within five days of any changes.

Open Data Point of Contact
OMB Memorandum M-25-05 requires the FCC to provide contact information for an open-data point of contact.   The public may seek assistance from the FCC’s Chief Data and Analytics Officer, along with other agency staff who work with data issues, at [email protected] with questions about data, including about data quality or usability; recommendations for improvements; access to datasets that are not currently public.

The Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) requires federal agencies to submit public information collection requests to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for approval before information can be collected. The listing is updated daily and includes all approved information collections, for which the FCC has received prior approval from OMB, as well as all collections currently under OMB review.
