This movie is funny as hell and very thought provoking. The situations on this film can seem a little absurd if someone simply explains them but they are portrayed in such a way that they are extremely relatable. In general the movie comes out as a very unusual and still realistic take on themes of sex and love, with a brilliant script and real performances that work in both humour and drama. The scene on which Kevin Smith gives his speech as Silent Bob has to be one of my favourite moments in film.

Much of the dialogue is good, and Smith does a decent job of presenting the emotional fallout from every major participant's p.o.v.
Lacks insight and finesse, and feels like a boldfaced Rorschach for Smith's own hang-ups.
Can a script exploring some truly deep questions about human sexuality and emotions be any shoddier and wooden?

Chasing Amy is far more romantic than Kevin Smith's other films. It still has the humour that his other movies have but the movie is more a love story than anything else. I love the cast, this is one of my favorite Ben Affleck movies, this came out just before Good Will Hunting made him a star. Jason Lee is also great as he has always been one of my favorite comedy actors but really its Joey Lauren Adams who delivers what could be the best performance of her career. Chasing Amy is excellent writing and directing by Kevin Smith on display once again. It deals with lots of dialogue about sexual stereotypes and its a film that deals with one of the most weird but possible dilemmas in finding that special someone. The film is just as fresh now as ever.

Pretty dumb movie. I was expecting this moving to be funny. It wasn't. This moving is very boring. Nothing exciting or interesting about it.

Overall, a pretty good movie it's not Smith's best outing but one that does do a lot for him. It's like a romantic comedy with a bit a controversial twist for the time that it was made. The main actors do a very good job of putting the story in focus.

Chasing Amy is funny, but not hilarious. The story is decent. The ending is less than adequate. Joey Lauren Adams is a very annoying actresses, especially when she's yelling, which she does for at least a third of her lines. If they had cast somebody else in her role, the movie would've been much better.

At first, I did not understand how this has such a positive user score. Then I noticed that the scores negatively correlate with the year that they were posted. This movie did not age well. Affleck's character is an all around POS and we are supposed to care if he can turn a gay girl. Not worth watching if you have gay friends of either gender and actually respect them.
