Use the NCBI Toolkit to improve data quality
CGR aims to ensure high quality genome assemblies that are free from potential contamination. Improving data quality prior to submission allows for more rapid integration of data into comparative genomic research worldwide.
Screen for contamination
The Foreign Contamination Screening (FCS) tool rapidly detects contaminants from foreign organisms in genome assemblies to prepare your data for submission. Therefore, the submission process is faster and fewer contaminated genomes are submitted. This reduces errors in analyses and conclusions, not just for the original data submitter but for all subsequent users of the assembly.

Annotate your genome
A public version of the NCBI Eukaryotic Genome Annotation Pipeline (EGAPx) is now available so you can generate high-quality genome annotation for vertebrates, arthropods, and plants. Annotation attaches biological function to your assembled genome sequence, enhancing its utility for downstream research and comparative analysis, supporting robust and reproducible scientific discovery.
QC assembled genomes
NCBI’s new Assembly QC service can evaluate the completeness, correctness, and base accuracy of your human, mouse, or rat genome assembly compared to a reference assembly prior to submission. Simply provide NCBI with one or more assemblies in FASTA format and we will do an annotation-based evaluation of the genome(s) using the expert-curated, high-confidence RefSeq transcripts for the species.
