The Vermont Department of Taxes' Compliance Division is seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to support the fair and accurate collection of state taxes. This role involves reviewing taxpayer records, collecting unpaid taxes, and working with taxpayers to arrange payment agreements, propose settlements, and, when appropriate, waive penalties. The position also includes enforcing compliance through actions such as wage garnishments or property liens, and providing education and outreach to help taxpayers meet their obligations voluntarily. Ideal candidates will be curious, self-driven, comfortable with digital tools, and skilled at communicating complex information clearly and respectfully. A willingness to learn and grow in the field of tax administration is essential.
