Experience the Improved Grants.gov!

The Grants.gov web interface will be improved to provide a more intuitive and responsive user experience with upgraded security and enhanced navigation. The website will align with the United States Web Design System (USWDS), a federal standard to provide accessible and mobile-friendly websites to all users. It will be clearly identified as an official U.S. government website with a banner at the top denoting it as such. While Grants.gov content will remain the same, it will feel more user-friendly, fresh, and modern.

A New Tool

Grants.gov’s new look and feel comes with transitioning to a new Content Management System (CMS). Early in 2023, as part of a system modernization initiative, the Grants.gov Project Management Office (PMO) approved an effort to implement major portions of the Grants.gov website in a modern CMS. The new CMS offers visual editing tools and highly customizable content blocks, enabling Grants.gov to deliver powerful content experiences on any digital platform. Most importantly, all visitors and users will find a user-friendly Grants.gov readily available on most devices.

Objectives

The primary objectives of moving to a new CMS are to deliver a new face for Grants.gov, align the site with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) standards, ensure the site is more accessible to all users through improved compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, enhance site security, and to enable quick and easy site updates by content managers.

Content Remains the Same, But Check Your Bookmarks

While the new site will be more accessible and mobile-friendly for all, Grants.gov content will remain the same and be presented in a more user-friendly, fresh, and modern style. However, some page URLs may change, so please check the URLs of your linked pages now, and if needed, when the new site launches, update any bookmarks or hyperlinks you may use to access Grants.gov pages.

Some Pages Await the Change

Some site sections, including post-login pages such as applicant, grantor, and subscription, do not reflect the new look and feel. These will be updated in future modernization efforts.

Additionally, certain features, like Chatbot, are not available on the new sections of the website. Rest assured, these functionalities are a priority, and we are actively working to reintroduce them in subsequent releases.
