Solve Customer Dissatisfaction

Solve issues before they impact customers - Take a proactive approach with the industry-leading QoE solution.

Analyze Your Network In Real Time

LibreQoS provides a real-time view of your network. With live monitoring of TCP Round Trip Time, TCP Retransmits, and Throughput – LibreQoS allows you to see exactly where data is flowing on your network, and to identify any potential customer pain-points that may exist.

Instant Assessment

LibreQoS enables a comprehensive, live mapping of your network. Below is the LibreQoS Tree Overview. This view allows you to quickly spot which Nodes (Sites, APs, etc) are experiencing good or poor QoE on your network. Bands between nodes change color based on utilization, with red meaning high utilization. The rectangles for each node are color-coded based on TCP Round Trip Time – with red indicating high RTT, and potential customer QoE impact.

Simple, Automatic Network QoE Optimization

Features

Advanced Network Monitoring

LibreQoS monitors key QoE metrics such as TCP Round Trip Time (RTT), TCP Packet Retransmissions, Flows, Throughput, and Utilization. These metrics are recorded per subscriber, access point, OLT, site, tower, and backhaul - all using passive monitoring techniques (no SNMP needed).

Traffic Shaping Based On Network Topology

LibreQoS allows Network Operators to apply traffic shaping based on the capacities of each bottleneck in the access network. LibreQoS uses hierarchical shaping to ensure that throughput at any choke-point along the network (back-hauls, access points / OLTs) will not exceed the equipment's actual capacity. LibreQoS’ network topology based shaping helps mitigate harmful micro-bursts of traffic – ensuring smooth, stable connectivity for all users. It also allows network operators to support more users on the same network infrastructure than would be possible using competing QoE solutions.

Flow Queuing with CAKE

LibreQoS uses CAKE (Common Applications Kept Enhanced) - a modern Active Queue Management (AQM) technique. CAKE is based on the highly popular AQM fq_codel - and is the product of nearly a decade of development efforts to improve on its foundations. CAKE ensures that a subscribers' "bulk" flows will not harm their "active" flows. For example, if a subscriber is on an important Zoom call, and a computer's OS downloads a large update in the background, CAKE ensures that the subscriber's Zoom call receives priority in the packet queue. CAKE is highly effective at ensuring smooth, stable video conference calling, Voice over IP, and real-time online applications such as online multiplayer gaming.

Testimonials

"We've been testing Libre for the last three months now and are very happy with the results. The team is highly responsive and communicative, and they have been very receptive to feature requests we’ve made. We’ve also evaluated Preseem, BQN, and are waiting on a full-fledged test of PQ. With preseem we felt frustrated by its ability to manage the congestion of oversaturated pipes and APs, but the reporting was some of the easiest to understand and use for CRMS. BQN provided advanced functionality and detailed reporting, though its upgrade process involved multiple steps. We experienced an issue during an upgrade in August 2024 that impacted performance and was unable to be resolved, so we had to abandon the platform. What I like about Libre is that we can afford to deploy a box at every step of our network to manage congestion at very little cost—something that would be more costly with other platforms. We are planning to deploy a box at every tower site and backhaul relay point in the network and are very excited by this prospect."

"I've been running my 1.4 LibreQoS on a network segment with 128 current subs for some time now. I moved off of Preseem on this network because I wanted to both vet LibreQoS, but I also wanted to vet a model out. This area is getting overbuilt by Spectrum fiber so I really had to up my game from 25Mbps services. ALL services went to the base price and ALL services got moved up to 100x25. Every AP got a shaper matching it's realistic peak performance, often it's only 100Mbps on AirMax. The premise was that my 2-10 sub AirMax APs were underutilized and that might be hurting my marketability against a fiber vendor. So letting subscribers share a higher speed plan and letting LibreQoS fair share that should make for a better customer experience. It did. Absolute success. Of 128 subs, I average about 10 that go over 3-6Mbps and are 40-50Mbps during prime time and get 'more' out of the service now. My average use has barely moved up. And those more active users are huge allies in local social media groups. With 128 subs on a minimum of 100Mbps, and a good handful on 300x100 and 300x300 on Wave links, I'm getting high averages of about 400Mbps on 128 subs and a low hum of around 100Mbps. Basically, this is an almost zero cost solution to have people 'feel' like they have a 4x faster connection when they need it. It's cost me at most about 100Mbps of prime time throughput."
