Feedback needed: Draft gadget/user script policy

[If you don't write gadgets, user scripts or work on MediaWiki code feel free to ignore this message] Hey all! Given the hackathon this weekend, now seemed like a good idea to talk about us having a policy for code we write for gadget and user scripts developers and as gadget and user script developers. TDLR: I am proposing a policy to guide developers and authors of these kinds of scripts. Please feel free to share on wiki. *What is being proposed* A policy page that would be editable on wiki and linked to from the editing interfaces on gadgets, to guide both parties on how to write code that's sustainable and less prone to breakage. *Why is this needed?* Despite gadgets and user scripts (which will be referred from now on as wiki-based code) being a key component of MediaWiki projects, up until now frontend APIs (e.g. how wiki-based code should interact with source control provided code) have been ill-defined leading to misunderstandings between engineers and wiki-based code developers when wiki-based code break. This also leads to code rot, where developers do not feel empowered to make changes as it's unclear how their changes will impact wiki-based code developers. On top of this, when wiki-based code breaks it's not clear who can and will fix them. To solve this a policy I have been pushing for some time to make the contract between MediaWiki developers and wiki-based code developers explicit and less confusing. MediaWiki 1.38.0-rc.1 is ready for testing

I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of MediaWiki 1.38.0-rc.1, the second release candidate for 1.38.0. Download links are at the end of the e-mail. The tag has been signed and pushed to Git. This is not a final release, and should not be used for production websites. Known issues are tracked in Phabricator on the release workboard [1]. As with every release of MediaWiki, a large number of changes have landed in the last six months (over 1500 commits since 1.37.0 was cut), and you should read over the preliminary release notes as part of assuring yourself of areas that may have issues with your configuration, your skins, and/or your extensions. As always, please try out the release candidate in a test environment and do report any issues that you discover. Please use the #MW-1.38-Release [2] tag in Phabricator when reporting issues specific to this release, to make sure that we find them as quickly as possible. It is expected that MediaWiki 1.38 will become final in May 2022, though the date may slip if blockers are identified. New Code of Conduct Committee candidates

user login issue after upgrade to 1.37.2

Hello, I successfully upgraded/migrated my old wiki 1.26.0 to a new wiki 1.37.2 about a month ago. But now I realized I couldn't log in the wiki to edit content. I was not sure what my old user password was but assuming the old password was less than 8 chars. So I used changePassword.php to reset my password and set a new one longer than 8 chars. But when I used it to log in my wiki, it seems to accept but goes back to original page with only "Log in" link on the top right corner, which means I'm not logged in. I immediately checked LocalSettings.php if $wgReadOnly was still configured after the upgrade, which was commented out with the leading '#'. What could cause this behavior of the wiki? As Mehdi Mohagheghi' s Google panle is not available under the authority of himself, it is related to about twelve years ago concepting of his career and biography of artistic life there are to many things which have been written as Mehdi Mohagheghi's description of musical instrument and specialization, so it is necessary to say after related written of himself, that He holds the PhD level of music theory and teaching method from Eurasian university of Georgia certified by the UNESCO so strongly , on the second place He has held the badge of honour from Cultural ministry of Iran in the guitar specialists, and so many things to be updated on.
