Dozens of short stories and unfinished novels later, young school-boy Faisal Hashmi knew right then that he wanted to tell stories all his life. During his college years, he ventured into screenwriting only to realize that only he had the right vision to translate his crazy ideas to screen. This led to his first two amateur short films during his college term. Being a huge film geek and attracted to the larger than life quality of cinema, he was burnt out by the fact that there was almost zero drive for youth filmmaking in UAE.

A year later, the release of his next short film ‘Perfect Living’ got him noticed by a number of creative individuals. It was then the 21-year old aspiring filmmaker decided to take that momentum and move forward with his own banner ‘Hashmic House Films’ in an effort to drive youth filmmaking in the region to its peak. His upcoming plans include developing his numerous pitches into a steady stream of festival-quality short films, and eventually a thriller that shall be UAE’s first expat feature film. He’s also a singer and movie blogger, but that has nothing to do with anything.
