They are one of K-pop’s biggest names. They are also one of the most popular girl groups in Asia. And they have been around the world as well because they have fans globally. But this past weekend was special for all nine members of Girls’ Generation because they launched their first-ever world tour.
This was probably why in the hallways leading to the concert venue, they greeted fans with large photographs of themselves dressed as flight attendants – as if to say that they are ready to take off on a journey that will involve not just a lot of long plane rides, but hopefully take them to the next level of their careers.
And their fans were proof the girls may do just fine: all 10,000 concertgoers on Sunday created the signature ‘pink ocean’ with their glow sticks, waving them enthusiastically as they waited for their stars to come on stage.
When the lights finally came on, a hologram of the girls appeared, marking the opening of their world tour titled “2013 GIRLS’ GENERATION WORLD TOUR – GIRLS & PEACE.”
Yet of course, nothing excited fans more than actually seeing their favorite girls, who kicked off the concert with “HOOT” while dressed in bright pink from head to toe.

Throughout the show, the girls showed a variety of performances; exhibiting their playfulness by shaking their tail feathers while singing “Say Yes,” while for the song “My J,” the girls sat on a gigantic cake while wearing puffy dresses with big hearts.
For “Paparazzi,” the girls turned into sexy glass dolls in boxes that were based on characters from Nicole Kidman’s “Moulin Rouge.”
At one point, fans showed their affection for Girls’ Generation by holding up cards saying “Let’s stay together forever” in Korean, bringing tears to HyoYeon’s eyes which surprised the rest of the group because she is known for not crying.
Towards the end of the show, YuRi said, “It felt like today was our last concert. I know it’s not true but that was how well I wanted to do for all of you tonight.”
“It has been two years since our last concert in Seoul so thank you for waiting. I’m glad we are here together,” SeoHyun added.
The show, which lasted two and a half hours long, came to an end after two encore performances.
Girls’ Generation’s next destination will be Taiwan on July 20 and 21, and they will stop by in cities across a number of countries around the world as well.
