ACM Open Conference Statement

The open exchange of ideas and the freedom of thought and expression are central to the aims and goals of ACM and its conferences.  These aims and goals require an environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group, that fosters dignity, understanding, and mutual respect, and that embraces diversity.
 
ACM is firmly committed to prohibiting discrimination at its conferences against individuals because of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status religion, national origin, ancestry, or disability.  All individuals are entitled to participate in any ACM activity free of discrimination, including harassment based on any of the above factors.

ACM is concerned about discriminatory legislation in various locations and will work with conference organizers to best address location related issues.

SIG Conference Planning Guide

KDD 2025, Aug. 3 - 7

The SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining brings together researchers and practitioners from data science, data mining, knowledge discovery, large-scale data analytics, and big data. Workshops and tutorials will include “Causal Inference and Machine Learning in Practice,” “Machine Learning in Finance,” “AI for Enterprise: Emerging Applications and Real-world Challenges,” "Inference Optimization for Generative AI," and more. Keynote speakers will be 2024 ACM Chuck Thacker Award Recipient Jason Cong (UCLA), Caroline Uhler (Broad Institute), and Dan Roth (University of Pennsylvania). The conference will be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

SIGGRAPH 2025, Aug. 10 - 14

The Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques is the premier conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques. Here, we boldly look toward the future, imagining how humanity and technology will be increasingly connected and examining how we can create a future that connects our physical and digital worlds for the better. Keynote speakers are Mike Haley, Maurice Patel, and Nikola Todorovic (Autodesk), and Anjali Tripathi (Astrophysicist) . The event will be held in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada.

DocEng 2025 Sept. 2 - 5

The ACM Symposium on Document Engineering seeks original research papers that focus on the design, implementation, development, management, use and evaluation of advanced systems where documents and document collections play a key role. DocEng emphasizes innovative approaches to document engineering technology, use of documents and document collections in real-world applications, and novel principles, tools and processes that improve our ability to create, manage, maintain, share, and productively use these. Keynote speakers are Debora Weber-Wulff (HTW Berlin) and Charles Nicholas (UMBC). The event is being held in Nottingham, UK.

SIGCOMM 2025, Sept. 8 - 11

The flagship annual conference of the ACM Special Interest Group on Data Communication focuses on the applications, technologies, architectures, and protocols for computer communication. Workshop and tutorials will include "eBPF and Kernel Extensions," "Formal Methods-Aided Network Operation," "LEO Networking and Communication," "Networks for AI Computing," Quantum Networks and Distributed Quantum Computing," "Too Hot to Handle? Thermal and Performance Bottlenecks in XR Wearables for the Metaverse," and more. The Keynote speaker will be Bruce Davie (MIT). The event will be held in Coimbra, Portugal.

Tapia 2025, Sept. 10 - 12

The ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing features panels, workshops, poster sessions, networking opportunities and a career fair. Tapia will bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities. This year's conference will have a focus on Generative AI including a GenAI Hackathon. Workshops include "Leveraging Generative AI for Protein Engineering," "Maximizing Business Value with AI: From Quick Wins to Scalable Impact," "Receipts And Reality: Unpacking The Research On Black Women and Girls In Computing," and moreThe event will be held in Dallas, Texas, USA.

womENcourage 2025, Sept. 17 - 19

The ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage 2025, is an ACM initiative celebrating the achievements of women in computing, established by ACM-W Europe with the goal of fostering connections among women across various technical disciplines and motivating them to continue their education and careers in the field of computing. The event serves as a platform for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, academics, and engineers from Europe and beyond to come together, present their work, share experiences, and engage in discussions on critical issues facing women in the computing profession. The celebration is being held in Brasov, Romania.

On March 3, 2022, ACM’s Executive Committee decided not to hold any conferences in Russia while the conflict in the Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis in Europe continue. This decision applies to ACM sponsored conferences and workshops as well as in-cooperation events.

Virtual Conferences: A Guide to Best Practices

In March 2020 ACM formed a Presidential Task Force (PTF) to help conference organizers transition their events to online. The PTF is working on a guide to offer practical advice and shed light on the largely unfamiliar territory of online conferencing.

The report, available here, includes pointers to a live document with additional resources. We welcome comments, suggestions and experience reports from the community.
