Fremont River Dispersed Camping

Overview

There are several locations along the Fremont River between Johnson Valley Reservoir and Mill Meadow Reservoir for dispersed camping. Tent camping is permitted in meadows, while vehicle and RV camping is permitted in the parking areas.

The areas have hardened parking areas. Vault toilet in some areas.

Natural Features

Located in Red Rock areas with scenic views and surrounded by sagebrush.

Recreation

Nearby recreational activities include hiking, OHV trail riding, and fishing.

General Information

May - October

Open 24 hours/day

-Please refrain from cutting or breaking branches around dispersed campsites. Kindly bring your own firewood to help preserve the natural environment and camping experience.

-Camping stay limit is 16 days, 15 nights. After that you must relocate at least 5 road miles away if you wish to continue camping.

-Camp at least 200 feet from lakes, rivers and streams to protect water quality.

-Follow local fire restrictions and fully extinguish campfires before leaving.

-Pack out all trash and follow leave no trace principles.

-Use existing sites and park only on durable surfaces (not vegetation)

-Avoid creating new trails or campsites

-Store food properly in bear-proof containers.

-Stay on designated roads, and trails as shown on kiosk and designated forest service maps.

-All OHVs are required to be registered and display a permit or sticker for riding on public lands.

-Yield to hikers, horses and non-motorized users.

No Fees are required for this site.

-Pets must be leashed at all times within this recreation area. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and to protect wildlife.

-Clean up dog waste and dispose of it properly.

-Keep dogs from chasing, harassing, and disturbing wildlife or other visitors.

-Yield to other hikers, horses, and other trail users by stepping off the trail and controlling your dog.

Directions

Fremont River CUA Dispersed Camping areas are  approximately 13.7 miles and 15.5 miles northeast of Loa. Head north on N Main St toward W 100 N St 0.6 miles. Turn right onto UT-72 N/E 500 N and stay on UT-72 N 9.6 miles. Turn left  (west) onto FR036 for  3.5 miles for the south site. For the north site, continue on FR036 for another 1.8 miles.
