Frying Pan Campground

Overview
Frying Pan Campground is located on the Fishlake Scenic Byway Highway 25 in central Utah. Sitting just three miles north of Fish Lake at an elevation of 9,000 feet, visitors who camp here may enjoy boating, fishing and exploring local trails.

Facilities
The campground has one group site that can accommodate up to 100 people and up to 30 vehicles. The group site also includes picnic tables, a campfire ring and large parking area. Several single-family sites are also available. Flush and vault toilets are available in the campground, as well as drinking water during the operating season. Roads and parking spurs are paved. 

Natural Features
The campground sits on a sagebrush-covered hillside above the valley floor and offers views of the north end of the Fish Lake Basin. Aspen trees are found around the campground, providing limited shade.

Recreation
Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake and covers 2,500 acres. It is famous for its 20-40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Anglers also enjoy fishing for rainbow trout, perch, Kokanee salmon and splake. Boating, canoeing, hiking and wildlife viewing are popular activities. The scenic Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the lake.

Frying Pan Campground offers a total of 11 campsites. Six of these sites are available to reserve in advance, including five single sites and one large group site. The remaining 5 campsites are available to campers on a first-come-first-serve basis. These FCFS sites are not available to reserve in advance. You must physically arrive at the facility to see if the site is available. There is no guarantee that sites will be available to purchase upon your arrival. General Information

Quiet hours 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Please refrain from cutting or breaking branches around this campsite. Kindly bring your own firewood to help preserve the natural environment and camping experience.

-OHVs are not allowed within the campground.

-Quiet time is between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am mountain time. 

-Camping stay limit is 16 days, 15 nights. After that you must relocate at least 5 road miles away if you wish to continue camping.

-Follow local fire restrictions and fully extinguish campfires before leaving.

-Pack out all trash and follow leave no trace principles.

-Park only in designated camp sites (not vegetation)

-Discharging a firearm of any kind is prohibited.

-Fireworks are prohibited.

-Pets must be on a leash.

All campgrounds on the Fishlake National Forest are managed by High Country Recreation under the terms and conditions of a concession permit that was issued to them by the Forest Service.

  • Pets must be leashed at all times within this recreation area. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and to protect wildlife.
  • Clean up dog waste and dispose of it properly.
  • Keep dogs from chasing, harassing, and disturbing wildlife, livestock or other visitors.
  • When on a trail, yield to other hikers, horses, and other trail users by stepping off the trail and keeping control of your dog.

Directions

Frying Pan Campground is located approximately 47 miles east of Richfield, Utah. Head east on UT-118 N/E 300 N toward N 100 E 0.8 miles. Continue straight onto UT-119 E 8.8 miles. Turn right onto UT-24 E 23.1 miles. Turn left onto UT-25 N 10.0 miles. Continue onto FR640 4.4 miles, then turn left (north) into the campground entrance.
