Fire
Working Together
Federal, state, and local fire agencies work together to coordinate, communicate, and collaborate to provide responsive wildfire prevention and fuels reduction to protect the communities of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Tallac Hotshots
After completing the Type 1 certification process in 2014, the Tallac Hotshots became the first Interagency Hotshot Crew from Lake Tahoe. The Tallac Hotshots proudly uphold the tradition and legacy of the hotshot community and are a valued resource that responds to wildland fires and all risk incidents throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Nation.
Tahoe Living With Fire
Tahoe Living With Fire is a collaborative education and outreach program, founded in 1997 by the University of Nevada Reno Cooperative Extension and is supported by members of the Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team. We work to create vital connections between federal, state, and local agencies and our Tahoe communities to address the ongoing dangers of wildfire.
The Tahoe Fires & Fuel Team (TFFT) was formed in 2008 to reduce fuels in the wildland urban interface and prepare communities for wildfire. The partnership involves 21 federal, tribal, state, and local conservation, land management, and fire agencies.
