Vermont's Child Passenger Safety Program, Be Seat Smart, is designed to draw attention to the importance of child car seats and to help caregivers understand the 4 Stages of Seat Safety for every child. Child safety seats can be confusing for caregivers, and many car seats are not properly installed. Certified safety technicians are available to help you for free at Fitting Stations throughout Vermont and at special Car Seat Check events.
What seat is being recalled?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall alert for the Evenflo Titan 65 child car seat, model number 3712198.
Why is it being recalled?
Nothing is wrong with the seat itself. It is being recalled because the wrong instruction manual may have been included in the box, which could lead a parent or caregiver to incorrectly installation the car seat for their child.
What should I do if I have this car seat?
You do not need to stop using this car seat. The car seat is safe! You just need to make sure you’ve installed it correctly. Find a digital copy of the correct instructions here, or you can go to one of the dozens of car seat assistance stations across the state to have a Nationally Certified child passenger safety technician inspect your car seat.
You can call Evenflo directly at 1-800-233-5921 to receive a replacement manual to be mailed to your home. Starting on July 15, Evenflo will mail letters to registered car seat owners information on how to check and replace the instruction manual, for free.
