VITAL RECORDS OF LIVERMORE AND EAST LIVERMORE, MAINE
Compiled by Gregory S. Childs
We are proud to announce an exciting milestone in the history of MGS: our 100th Special Publication. Such an occasion warranted a groundbreaking work of genealogical value, and Vital Records of Livermore and East Livermore, Maine, is exactly that. This 864-page book contains an extraordinary collection of valuable source material, carefully transcribed with complete name and place indexes, presented together in one volume. 62% of the records contained in this publication have never been microfilmed, including the vital records of East Livermore, now Livermore Falls, which appear here in print for the very first time. The vital records of Livermore, available online as digitized microfilm, are unindexed and notoriously difficult to decipher, and finding an ancestor in these records inevitably required time-consuming, page-by-page searches. Not anymore. Mr. Childs amassed an impressive collection of original vital, military, and pauper records, one family Bible register, as well as documents and diaries relating to the area’s early history, found only at local repositories. Considering the historical importance of both towns, these records include individuals and families in transit to other destinations, both in Maine and other states: all 16 counties in Maine, 28 US states/districts (not including Maine), and 7 foreign countries are represented in the place index! This publication is a must-have for researchers of not only Livermore and East Livermore, but the entire area comprising Oxford, Androscoggin, Franklin, and Kennebec counties.
Lincoln County, Maine, Master Index to Deeds in Volumes 101–189 (1818–1848)
Compiled by Marline A. Groves, edited by Joseph C. Anderson II, FASG, and Gregory S. Childs
This volume is an essential companion to the earlier master index published by MGS in 2021 covering deed volumes 1–100 and the years 1760–1818. This massive new book (860 pages, double-columned) is an index of over 100,000 grantor and grantee deeds, sorted by last name, first name, name of the counterparty, and volume and page number. The master index provides an easy overview of an individual’s transactions spanning multiple deed volumes, which heretofore have been indexed only semi-alphabetically by volume. With this book, researchers can now effortlessly locate deeds and bypass the tedious volume-by-volume searches that were necessary until now. In addition to land deeds, the index includes depositions, affidavits, powers of attorney, and other types of transactions, all of which are typically rich in genealogical clues and unexpected genealogical treasures, making these documents a crucial part of any genealogist’s research.

The records in this book were transcribed from both the digital images found on FamilySearch.org and from the surviving original volumes located in the Leeds town office.
